New fee of 1 franc: twint penalty for Sunrise customers

Anyone who pays their Sunrise bill with TWINT will have to pay a fee in the future.

It is very convenient for customers: They open their online customer accounts with Sunrise and pay their mobile phone bills directly via TWINT.

The fee has been in effect since Tuesday and, as the “20 minutes” reports, instant payments are made via Debit and Credit Cards, PayPal or Google Play. Sunrise spokesman Rolf Ziebold explains the new fee to the free newspaper as “the additional effort required to offer this service on the customer account.”

High fees for companies

Although customers generally do not receive any fees for TWINT, PayPal or debit card payments, companies must pay a transaction fee to the provider.

Original intent: If a customer defaults on payment and his connection is blocked, he can reactivate the connection as quickly as possible with an immediate payment.

If you want to save yourself the new fee, you can pay your bill for free using e-banking, eBill or direct debit.

Swisscom charges in-shop payment fees

Discontinuing the direct payment method was not a problem. The goal is to continue offering customers a blocked connection, a quick opportunity to pay overdue bills.

Advert

The new charge is poorly met with consumer protection: “The introduction of higher costs for paper invoices was intended to encourage customers to pay electronically. Now they are getting paid there too. (smt)
