The price of a pack of six organic free-range eggs is stated as 3.59 francs. N., who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “This is crazy!” he thinks. On the same day – January 10 – early in the morning he paid 4.69 francs for the same pack of organic eggs at the Winterthur branch of discount store Aldi. “I didn’t know before that Aldi charged different prices for German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland,” the reader reporter said.

The price difference of 1.10 francs for the same organic egg is huge. According to Aldi, its products are sold at the same price in all branches across Switzerland. In this case, different discounts may apply due to minimum durability or remaining stocks of non-food items.

‘Technical error’ in award

How does the discounter explain two different prices for the same Aldi egg? So, if there is an error, will other branches besides Lausanne and Winterthur be affected?

According to the Aldi media office upon Blick’s request, the current price of “retour aux Resources” organic eggs throughout Switzerland is 4.69 francs. Reason for price difference: “technical error”. For this reason, the wrong price for this product was displayed in some French-speaking Swiss branches. According to the discounter, the price difference problem has already been solved.
