In the future, Google will also allow the Chrome web browser to be used on the infotainment screen in the car. Passengers will be able to browse the internet while the car is parked or at traffic lights, for example. (archive image)

The function comes to vehicles where Google software is installed directly on the vehicle. It will initially be available in vehicles from Volvo and electric brand Polestar, Google announced Tuesday at the CES tech trade show in Las Vegas.

For vehicles with “Google Built-in” you will be able to transfer route planning directly to the vehicle system from the group’s map application on your smartphone.

For users who connect their smartphones with Google Android operating system to their vehicles, the option to share the current battery range with the group’s map application will soon be offered. This means that necessary stops for charging can be planned during navigation. This function will initially be available on two electric models from Ford.
