Names of WEF guests are increasingly leaked: Sam Altman is coming to Davos

In a week, the great parade of the powerful and rich will begin at the World Economic Forum (WEF). Speculations about who will attend Davos GR this year continue at full speed. On Tuesday, January 9, WEF organizers will announce celebrity guest lists. But even before the announcement, more and more names are being leaked.

“CH Media” newspapers claim that they have learned the future of Israeli President Isaac Herzog (63). In terms of the Middle East war, his involvement is notable and creates concern among responsible security officials. In addition to representation from Israel, many government members from the Arab world are also expected to attend.

According to the newspaper, these names include Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian (59), as well as the prime ministers of Iraq and Jordan. As seen in the program, high-level government delegations from Qatar and Saudi Arabia are expected to come.

Presidents and prime ministers met

The list of guests from other parts of the world is also impressive: according to the previous programme, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (43) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (45) are traveling from Germany, among others. It is not yet clear whether German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) will also come to the WEF.

Heads of government of other countries have already been confirmed: Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo (74), Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda (59), Hungarian President Katalin Novák (46), Croatian President Zoran Milanović (57) and Polish President Andrzej Duda (51) attended.

The latter is an important guest of Davos in terms of security policy in Europe: the war in Ukraine will once again be a topic of discussion at this year’s WEF. It is not yet clear whether senior representatives from Ukraine will attend, and the upcoming media conference will probably not be informed about the guest list.

I would like to remind you: the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Selenska (45) a year ago was approved only at the last moment for security reasons. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (45) attended last year’s editions virtually. This year, a peace conference on Ukraine will be held in Davos before the WEF.

A particularly high-level and large delegation is expected to come from China this year: “Reuters” news agency estimates that Chinese Premier Li Qiang (64) is on the trip. He will be the most senior Chinese government member at the WEF since Chinese President Xi Jinping, 70, visited Davos in 2017.

Many government members from Switzerland will also go to Davos. “CH Media” reports that all members of the federal parliament, except Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (60), are present at the WEF. Baume-Schneider was the only Federal Council member who did not attend Davos last year.

One name from the global business elite is of particular interest: OpenAI boss Sam Altman (38) appears on the program as a guest of a panel discussion. He is considered the inventor of the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT. Artificial intelligence has been the focus of numerous conferences, panels and discussions, especially at this year’s edition of the high-level meeting of global business elites.

Well-known names from the Swiss economy, such as Novartis boss Vas Narasimhan (47) and UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti (63), are also at the WEF.

Global inflation is also a topic of discussion in Davos: various central bankers and central bank governors, including ECB boss Christine Lagarde (68), SNB Governor Thomas Jordan (60) and the Director of the International Central Bank, will devote themselves to discussions on interest rate policy. WEF founder Klaus Schwab (85) invites many philanthropists to Davos as every year. The program features, among others, world-renowned chimpanzee researcher Jane Goodall (89). Microsoft founder, billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates (68) will also attend.
