From four Swiss cities: UberSki takes you from the big city directly to the slopes

UberSki wants to make traveling to the ski area less stressful.

The season has opened, but before the slopes of winter sports resorts in Switzerland are made unsafe, we face several challenges on ski holidays and ski weekends: slippery roads requiring snow chains, packed shuttle buses and expensive parking spaces. Driving service Uber now promises a stress-free journey with its new offer called UberSki.

UberSki allows winter sports enthusiasts and spontaneous travelers to book trips for themselves and their ski equipment to nearby ski resorts at a predefined fixed price via the app. During the ski season, this new option is offered for the first time in Bern, Zurich, Geneva and Lausanne.

Prices range from 140 to 390 francs depending on the destination and are clearly visible on the app before booking. This would be significantly cheaper than before: at around 17:00 on Tuesday, December 19, the journey from Geneva airport to Zermatt train station cost 611.30 francs in the best case, 991 francs in the worst case. Choosing UberSki is done in the same way as choosing a “green”, “X” or “comfort” car.

After UberEats now UberSki

In addition to private transfer services (cost: at least 500 francs for the route from Geneva to Verbier), Uber also wants to compete with the good old train. One-way ticket price here is approximately 50 francs. Some resorts are so far encouraging their customers to take the train. Advantages: More environmentally friendly and avoids traffic jams that clog roads to ski resorts and Uber parking spots. It is not yet known whether UberSki will replace the train as the preferred means of transportation.

Uber is a technology company that connects its users to on-demand services through a smartphone app. The platform so far offers access to alternative transportation options, food delivery services, as well as shipping and courier services. Uber now operates in more than 10,000 cities in 71 countries around the world and is changing the way people get around in cities. (No)
