More pay, better quality of life: that’s what the new collective bargaining agreement (GAV) agreed with Switzerland’s cabin crew promises. The CBA entered into force as of January 1, 2024. According to Switzerland, 79.1 percent of cabin crew union members voted to accept the new contract. “For us, this contract represents the last important milestone in the post-Corona restructuring and lays the foundation for a successful future,” the statement from Switzerland said. According to its information, the Lufthansa subsidiary has invested a total of 200 million francs over the next five years.
Swiss boss Dieter Vranckx: “I am happy that we have been able to significantly improve your working conditions with the new contract.” With the new GAV24, everyone’s basic salary will be increased by 400 francs per month. The contract also includes a two percent inflation compensation and an increase in expenses.
Starting in the third year of service, there is also the option to choose between variable pay with profit sharing or prorated 13th month salary. It is said that on-call services will now be compensated additionally. Living conditions will be improved with the earlier publication of the cabin crew assignment plan. Seven free days per month are now planned. “Travel time increases while on call,” says Swiss. GAV also offers new part-time models for parents and students.
