The employees of Ceva Logistics, headquartered in Baar ZG, work hard. Every day. They handle returns from online giant Zalando. Workers must process 41 pieces of clothing per hour. Most of the 250 to 300 employees, mostly women, do not earn 3,500 francs a month.

For months, Ceva employees have been fighting together with the Unia union for better working conditions and, above all, fair wages. After women threatened a warning strike last week, Ceva has now made his first concession.

More holidays and more pay

Employees benefit from the introduction of 13th monthly pay, a general wage increase for permanent and temporary employees, and a gradual five-week holiday. As the union announced yesterday, Wednesday, they will have another day off in 2024. The logistics company also wants to employ more people on a permanent basis in the future. Currently, more than half of employees work temporarily. The question now is: By what percentage will wages increase?

More information about fees
New GAV has been prepared
400,000 temporary workers can look forward to higher wages
Not enough for unions
Monthly wages at Landi & Co. will increase by at least 60 francs
Women’s manifesto was published

Work two hours longer for the same pay

This is just the beginning, according to Unia: Important issues and many of the workforce’s demands remain unanswered so far, it continues. The union therefore calls on Ceva to sit down with employee representatives to find common solutions.

Overpressure

Because the pressure on employees is extremely high. In September, the performance target was increased again from 39 to 41. Fees remain the same for now. This was ultimately the deciding factor in workers protesting against “scandalously low wages” on 14 September.

Most of the employees are foreigners. “Most people quit after learning German well enough to find another job,” an employee told “Wochenzeitung” (WOZ) in September.

Advert

Ceva Logistics is part of the French logistics group CMA CGM. This situation is currently being criticized in France. Claim: The company benefited greatly from crises such as the corona epidemic and war. The group’s sales rose by a third to 75 billion francs in 2022. The Saadé family is one of the five richest families in France, with assets worth 39 billion euros.
