The slogan “Fly more sustainably” was criticized. The advertised “Green Ticket” option is said to reduce some of the environmental impact when traveling by air.
However, the Advertising Standards Authority concluded that the advert did not clearly state the basis for the “flying more sustainably” claim. Lufthansa, which also owns Switzerland, told British news agency PA that the company will no longer use the slogan in future advertising.
In July, similar ads of Air France and Etihad, which also appeared on the Google search engine in the UK, were banned for the same reasons.
