Not a day goes by without new negative headlines at what was once Switzerland’s largest bank. Credit Suisse customers are now fed up with ongoing crisis reports. The Handelszeitung writes that there are many open accounts with other banks.
Cantonal banks are particularly popular
Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) is currently receiving so many requests to open new accounts that there is a backlog of work. This was reported by a customer who opened a new account at ZKB. Due to the large number of customers of a particular bank changing, there are delays in opening new accounts.
ZKB has approved several new account openings for the Handelszeitung. However, the press office of the cantonal bank does not give any information about the origin of these new customers. Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) made a similar statement.
Great fortunes are leaving
Another head of a cantonal bank informally admits that many Credit Suisse customers are currently looking for an alternative and are transferring their assets to other banks. First of all, wealthy customers with assets of more than 100,000 francs emigrate. Deposits up to CHF 100,000 are protected by the state.
Credit Suisse media office did not make any statement on the subject.
