Another traditional brand with Malbuner (“Mal Buner: Malbuner”) is based on this motif and competes with the Appenzeller cult advertisement: two old men and a lady sit on a bench in traditional Appenzeller costumes and get bored chewing a piece of food. from cheese. Something seems wrong here! What this is will become clear in a few seconds. A hiker sits down next to the Appenzellers and noisily tears open a pack of Malbuner Speck. “Makes you jealous, Malbuner farmer’s beech-cured bacon,” the ad reads. Zurich creative agency TBWA’s new ad will be available to watch on TV and online from 27 November. We’ll see later how well the parody was received in Appenzell.

Companies referencing rival products in their ads isn’t new, but it’s rare: Ikea recently poked fun at Balenciaga.
