Computer giant IBM had previously paused its advertisements on X. According to the New York Times, the company was looking to spend a million dollars there this quarter.

The trigger for IBM’s decision was the discovery of the company’s advertisements on X, along with Nazi contributions and anti-Semitic statements. The Media Matters organization showed how ads from IBM, Apple and software company Oracle, among others, appeared on X alongside posts containing positive statements about the ideology of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialists.

Ad revenue halved

In addition, Musk caused controversy with his support for an anti-Semitic post, which earned him harsh criticism from the White House, among other things. Writing on it, Musk wrote about the post on Wednesday that it contained the “real truth.”

In subsequent statements, Musk did not back down from his position, only slightly characterizing it as the Jewish organization Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that “really spreads anti-white racism and anti-Asian racism.” He also reiterated that, in his view, there is a problem with racism against whites.

X’s economic situation is already difficult. Musk has admitted several times that advertising revenues are only half as high as they were during the Twitter era.
