Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, has also now testified in the fraud case filed against former US President Donald Trump in New York.

Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka (42) has now testified in the fraud case filed in New York against former US President Donald Trump (77). He testified under oath on Wednesday that he was not involved in the creation of his father’s financial documents, a journalist from the AFP news agency reported on the site. Moreover, he does not know the documents other than the documents the prosecutor showed him.

The civil lawsuit accuses former President Trump of inflating the assets of his real estate empire by billions of dollars over the years to obtain better terms for loans and insurance. Ivanka Trump worked for years at the family holding company, the Trump Organization. She left this position in 2017 to work as an advisor to her father in the White House. He is not a defendant in the New York fraud case.

Did Ivanka Trump benefit from fraud?

His accused brothers, Donald Trump Junior (45) and Eric Trump (39), testified in court last week, and on Monday it was their father’s turn. When Ivanka Trump was called on Wednesday, Judge Arthur Engoron joked: “Who is she?”

New York State Attorney General Letitia James, 65, said Ivanka Trump would “try to distance herself from the company” before questioning the 42-year-old. “But unfortunately the facts will show that he was actually very involved.” Ivanka Trump negotiated the loan based on false representations about the financial health of her family holding company. “He benefited personally from this,” James said.

Before the trial, which started at the beginning of October, Judge Engoron ruled that Trump had exaggerated the assets of his real estate and therefore committed “fraud.” Therefore, the legal process is particularly concerned with the question of how high the penalty will be.

This isn’t the only accusation against Trump

Attorney General James requested a fine of $250 million (about 225 million Swiss francs). He also wants Trump and his two oldest sons to no longer be allowed to run companies in New York. In this case, it is out of the question for the former president to be threatened with imprisonment.

Trump, who wants to run again in the presidential elections a year later, denied all the allegations and stated that they were politically motivated. In addition to the civil case, he was also charged with four criminal cases. The two indictments relate to attempts by Republicans to stay in power by overturning the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. (AFP)
