Elon Musk (52) bought the short messaging service Twitter for $44 billion a year ago and renamed it X. Advertising revenue, which has always been a staple of Twitter’s business, has halved as companies fear a more negative environment for their brands. The tech billionaire is trying to fill the gap with more and more subscription revenue.
In search of new revenue, online platform X has introduced a more expensive subscription version that does not contain any advertising. In Germany it costs 19 euros a month. In the single subscription model offered so far for 9.52 Euros, the number of ads is halved. In addition to the more expensive subscription, X also introduced a cheaper version with fewer functions for 3.57 euros over the weekend.
New subscription tiers were introduced without existing subscription customers having the ability to switch between them without canceling. This function should occur in just a few weeks. (pbe/SDA)
