Switzerland wants to increase security and ease the burden on flight attendants with the new digital system. It is not yet clear how passengers will receive the camera installed in the cabin. However, according to the Lufthansa subsidiary, data protection must be guaranteed.

But there’s still a problem

However, the system cannot yet distinguish whether a passenger, a crew member or cleaning staff entered the plane. There’s a reason for this: “Cleaning and airport staff wear different uniforms and identifying characteristics at each destination,” the spokesperson explains. “So the AI ​​model needs to be trained differently in each case.” However, the airline believes that this problem will be brought under control soon.

“As a result of the successful testing phase, Switzerland plans to replace the manual counting process at boarding with automatic and digital passenger counting with artificial intelligence,” the spokesperson said, somewhat technically.
