Cabin crew union Kapers has agreed a new CLA with Switzerland.

After months of negotiations, the Swiss airline and the Kapers cabin crew union have agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement (GAV). To that end, they signed a declaration of intent (so-called memorandum of understanding), as Kapers announced in a statement released Friday evening.

The contract is currently being drawn up and finalized. It was stated that both parties agreed on confidentiality. The agreement will then be made available and put to a vote by Kapers members who are eligible to vote at the start of the consultation phase on 10 November.

The union wrote that according to the Kapers charter, a two-thirds majority is required to adopt the new CLA. The voting phase will end on December 20, 2023. If the new collective bargaining agreement is accepted, it will enter into force on January 1, 2024.

The fight for a new GAV has been going on for some time. The old GAV expires at the end of April 2024. At the end of December, Swiss and Kapers agreed on a new CLA. However, this was rejected by Kapers members in a vote at the beginning of the year.

In May, Kapers members spoke in favor of repealing the current CBA. Following GAV’s dissolution, Kapers vice presidents Lukas Krupitza and David Martinez resigned in June. (SDA/sfa)
