Engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce is planning job cuts. Around 2,000 to 2,500 jobs will be lost worldwide, the British company said on Tuesday.
The group currently employs approximately 42,000 people. The aim of the restructuring is a leaner and more efficient organization.
CEO Tufan Erginbilgic mentioned that another step has been taken on the long-term path of creating a competitive and growing company. The former BP executive has led the company since January.
Rolls-Royce primarily produces engines for wide-body aircraft used on long-haul flights from continent to continent. The company did not provide any information about which locations would be affected by the layoffs. Many media outlets had previously reported that the matter was primarily related to affairs in the administration. According to the announcement, changes will be made in the organization of purchasing, finance and human resources departments.
The company had already announced major layoffs three years ago; At that time, approximately 9,000 people were affected by this condition. The difficult situation that many airlines are in due to the collapse in air traffic and the corona epidemic also deeply affected the engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce. (SDA/kae)
