Swiss airline needs to replace nearly 1,000 faulty respirators. Switzerland announced Wednesday that crews on two recent Swiss flights discovered errors.
Some of the masks intended to protect the crew in the cabin and cockpit in case of smoke were difficult to unpack. As Switzerland explained, they were damaged and some of them were not working properly.
The Swiss Safety Investigation Board (Sust) and experts from various departments in Switzerland had previously confirmed the malfunction. This was also shown in a preliminary report published on Wednesday.
Switzerland now wants to replace all models of masks, some of which are faulty. It was stated that the purchase of new models has already started. The change will take several months. Switzerland has placed around 1,000 respiratory masks of the affected type on its aircraft.
Swiss cabin crew boss Martin Knuchel (57) recently addressed his employees with a video. There he calls for more security: “I have signs that many people are depressed when it comes to security. And the issue of security is sometimes neglected. “This concerns me!” said. (SDA/kae)
