Accordingly, the group management is working on a new savings program called Booster. According to the report, the headquarters in Bonn will be especially affected. The plan, according to the paper, is apparently to cut several hundred well-paying jobs.
Telekom had already announced layoffs at internal IT service provider Deutsche Telekom IT; In addition to this year’s 350 jobs, another 1,300 jobs are planned to be laid off by the end of 2024.
A savings program called Booster is currently being developed, Telekom told Handelsblatt. The company did not want to approve a certain number of positions. A Telecom spokesman said Booster “spans across a variety of areas with varying levels of claims.”
According to the “Handelsblatt” report, the background of the plans is, among other things, the rising costs of fiber optic expansion in Germany. Telecom is struggling with high energy and civil engineering prices, according to a spokesman.
