Layoffs correspond to 17 percent globally and 16 percent of the total workforce in Germany.

“The company’s management decided on this after completing a comprehensive investigation across all business areas and taking into account business development and current economic challenges,” a spokesman said. According to information obtained, Playmobil’s parent company recorded sales and profit losses in the last two financial years.

It was announced on Friday that the Playmobil manufacturer wanted to outsource mold making and lay off 74 people. The company announced that mold making is no longer one of the company’s core competencies and has lost its importance. (SDA)
