According to the report, the short messaging service, formerly known as Twitter, is cutting half of the jobs in this sector. “Oh, you mean the ‘Election Integrity’ team that undermines the integrity of elections?” the high-tech billionaire asks X. he wrote. “Yes, they are gone.”
The move comes at a critical time: There are more than 50 major elections around the world next year, including European elections in June and US congressional and presidential elections in November 2024.
X boss Linda Yaccarino, appointed by Musk, assured this week that the online platform was expanding its selection team. “There is a strong and growing team at X dedicated to election integrity,” he said at a conference.
A recent assessment by the EU Commission concluded that among major online platforms, X contains the largest proportion of misinformation. Musk withdrew from a deal between the EU and major online services on how to deal with misinformation.
