There is a moment of fear in the cabin. Family D.* from Jegenstorf BE lost their luggage on their way from Zurich to Rhodes on Friday morning. Curious: The Swiss subsidiary has to watch Edelweiss leave her bag on the apron in the pouring rain. Although the family immediately reported the situation to the personnel on the plane, the plane took off without any luggage. Cargo hold still open
This situation especially upsets the father of the family (48). “It wouldn’t have been this bad if we hadn’t told the cabin crew,” he says. The cargo hold was still open and the conveyor belt was moving when his son (11) noticed the accident. Even though the stewardess informs her team, the suitcase is not touched.
For a brief moment, there is hope in the air: The cabin crew informs the family that there have been no reports of a piece of luggage being left behind. But once they arrive, hope disappears. The family stays at the airport until the conveyor belt is closed and they are forced to head to the hotel without luggage.
Since then they have been trying to find out what happened to their luggage, but without success. They have already contacted the airline’s hotline several times. “That’s a huge phone bill,” says the father angrily.
However, the helpline only directs you to the customer service form. They are still waiting for his answer. “We feel let down.”
Temporary loss is an emotionally roller-coaster experience for two children waiting for their clothes for the holiday. They may lose their favorite clothes. Until the suitcase shows up, the family has no choice but to hand wash their children’s travel clothes every day.
After all: The hotline worker offers to reimburse the family for the purchase of the “most necessary” clothes for the children at the facility. However, what makes the D. family uncertain is that the airline does not mention a specific amount. In addition, many dresses are only available in the nearest city; It’s a 120-kilometer round trip to get there.
Blick wanted to know from Edelweiss whether the family’s suitcase was still in Zurich, what the reason might be, and how much money the family could afford to buy new clothes for their children.
Unfortunately, an email response states that “only operationally relevant positions” worked at Edelweiss on Sunday. The airline therefore feels unable to answer Blick’s questions, and especially those of the family.
At least: The suitcase has now arrived in Rhodes and was delivered to the hotel room on Sunday afternoon. But the clothes are soaked from the rain and the family has “yet to receive any feedback” from Edelweiss.
