Rapperswil-Jona SG appeal: This retiree wants to block Roger Federer’s latest construction project

Victor von Wartburg has been fighting for public riverside paths in Swiss waters for decades.

Roger Federer’s (42) lakeside villa on the shores of Lake Zurich continues to cause excitement. This time, the planned boathouse is at the center of the debate. Its construction is likely to be delayed further due to objections. The public distribution period ended this week. City clerk Stefan Eberhard confirmed to the “Linth-Zeitung” that several of them were received by the city of Rapperswil-Jona SG.

The association Rives Publiques, which campaigns for public riverside paths in Switzerland, is responsible for one of the objections. President Victor von Wartburg (80) is the head of the movement. Over the last two decades it has gained a reputation as the “Robin Hood of the lakes” and is notorious among municipal building authorities.

Lakeside road awaited

The reason von Wartburg is now going to war against Roger Federer’s boathouse is that the project to create a lakeside road from Kempraten SG to Feldbach ZH is pending. Federer should refrain from building on shores and water areas until the lakeside path is implemented and therefore complies with the Federal Spatial Planning Act.

Only: This could probably take a long time. St. The canton of St. Gallen included the lakeside road in the cantonal structure plan 21 years ago. Almost nothing has changed since then. The community will be responsible for implementation. But they seem to have little interest in building a road for their most valuable taxpayers to their lakeside villas.

No right to object

But there’s a problem with von Wartburg’s objection: It may not be valid at all. Because his association is not one of the 29 organizations that have the right to object in Switzerland according to the association law, according to the Zürichsee-Zeitung.

This did not play a role in the recent past because von Wartburg was able to cede the field to Aqua Viva, which had the right to object and had filed an objection with the boathouse in 2020. At that time, Aqua Viva obtained a suspension of proceedings. However, this time he has no intention of appealing again. Aqua Viva told the “Linth-Zeitung” at the time that it was now bindingly planned not to remediate the contaminated areas.

Advert

A lonely war begins for Von Wartburg. He will only be successful if he receives the right of appeal requested in his letter. Otherwise, nothing will be able to stop the house with its 20-meter pier from standing on the water. (ste)
