At some point, being bossy is a good thing! I order myself a cup of coffee, and as I pay, the card reader asks me if I want to tip 5, 10, or 15 percent. I want to decide for myself whether I want to tip; Not because a device asks me to.
Also: Which service should this be for in takeaway offers? I’m always happy to give something when I sit in a restaurant because I know wages are low in the catering industry. I’ll pay more than 15 percent if the service is excellent.
It is important for me as a customer that I am not under pressure. Of course: I also have the option of pressing the button on the card reader that says “Skip.”
But I felt like I had no choice. Because the view of different tipping options means that only those who give something are good customers. Anyone who clicks “skip” is being stingy. I am given the feeling of remorse and stinginess. Even though the staff did nothing but push a cup of coffee onto the counter.
