Companies accuse police of not taking theft cases seriously enough. Of the 339,206 cases reported between April 2022 and March 2023, fewer than 50,000 were charged. In just over half of the cases, investigations were stopped before the perpetrators were identified. Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the development was unacceptable. (SDA)
