Greenpeace is basing its claims on a study commissioned by research agency Infras, the environmental organization announced Wednesday. According to this, additional consumption from advertising is up to seven percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions in Switzerland.
Greenpeace said retailers must make binding advertising regulations because Migros and Coop spend a lot of money on advertising. Because not all advertising francs have the same impact on the climate: An advertising franc for animal products emits four times more greenhouse gases than vegan substitutes. However, animal products are advertised much more than vegan products. (SDA)
