More chocolate sales: Lindt breaks sales barrier of 2 billion francs

The Kilchberg-based company sold 2.09 billion Swiss francs worth of chocolate bunnies, Lindor balls and pralines from January to June. This corresponds to an organic increase of 10.1 percent, as can be seen from the half-year report released Tuesday. But price increases also helped the chocolate maker. Because raw materials and energy are still expensive, they say some of the cost increases are passed on to their trading partners.

Operating profit (EBIT) rose to CHF 255 million, an increase of approximately 38 percent. As a measure of profitability, the EBITDA margin increased by 2.6 percentage points to 12.2 percent (H1 2022: 9.6%). Finally, Lindt has benefited from her focus on premium chocolate. According to the statement, consumers turned to high-quality products with higher added value compared to the previous year.

As a result, Lindt made a profit of 204.5 million francs, after 138 million in the first half of last year.

The company now counts on the full year and is increasing its forecasts for its own performance. Responsibles now assume an organic sales growth of 7 to 9 percent for 2023. Previously, they expected 6 to 8 percent organic growth. Expectations for an EBITDA margin increase have also increased.
