Salt subscribers will have to dig deeper into their pockets for cell phone subscriptions starting in September. Because Salt increases list prices by around 3 percent on some mobile phone subscriptions. The telecommunications provider stressed that this is the first price increase since 2015.

Affected customers will be contacted individually over the next few days. Salt felt compelled to act as operating costs—especially energy and labor costs—have risen dramatically over the past 18 months. Prices for PrePay contracts, device offers, as well as additional options and major corporate contracts are excluded from the fixes.

After that the prices stay the same

Following these price adjustments, Salt is committed to keeping list prices stable until 2025. Therefore, the upcoming VAT increase will not be reflected to subscribers. “We will continue to invest in our network and services in the coming years to be the provider of choice for customers seeking quality at the best price,” Salt boss Max Nunziata said in a press release.

Salt isn’t the first telecom company to raise prices. Sunrise has already raised tariffs on July 1. Concretely, this means that the prices of the Sunrise Up subscriptions currently on offer will rise between 90 cents and 2.90 francs per month, and the subscription prices will increase by 1 franc each for Yallo subscriptions and 95 cents for Lebara subscriptions. The increase is slightly higher than Salt, with an average of 4 percent.
