This is due to the excesses of drunk party vacationers at Ballermann, on public roads and on the beach. Sure: “Only harsh punishments will help against bad behavior in Mallorca.” At the same time, he looks intently at Amsterdam.

90 euros to shout around

Amsterdam? Definitely. Because the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places is prohibited in the Dutch capital. If you don’t stick to it, you’ll have to dig deep into your wallet. It is punishable by a flattering fine of 180 euros. If you shout on the street in Amsterdam, you still have to pay 90 Euros.

However, without an additional police presence, the necessary measures can hardly be implemented. “The city should create its own permanent unit that patrols the streets every day,” he demands.

This is the only way the regulations can actually be enforced. According to Marín, the situation is clear: “Tourists who are asked to pay immediately for a crime committed by law enforcement will think twice before violating the rules,” he says.

And for the president of the hoteliers association, it’s clear: “When the German and British media cover the ban on alcohol, partygoers will be warned in their own country.” They have high hopes for this.
