Last fall, women had a bitter pill to swallow: 50.6 percent of voters supported raising the retirement age for women to 65. And against the will of the women who openly refused the offer.

But now it turns out that those who make calculations can even benefit from the raise. However, this does not apply to everyone, but to transitional cohorts. For many women born between 1961 and 1969, early retirement is worthwhile thanks to compensation.

Women drive better than men

As the “NZZ am Sonntag” pension expert Andreas Zeller calculates, compensation can be up to 60,000 francs. Because the federal government has planned three billion francs for this compensation.

VZ Vermögenszentrum confirmed the statement. But a VZ spokesperson said the bill could vary drastically. Despite the shortage of skilled workers, there may be a wave of early retirements among women: “Women in the transitional generation are generally better off with early retirement,” says Zeller.

More information is worth it

This is because men who retire early have a much lower AHV than women who are eligible for federal compensation.
