Munich-based Synlab Group announced on Tuesday that it has decided to accept Sonic Healthcare’s offer and sell all of its Swiss operations. The transaction had previously received the green light from antitrust authorities.
Sonic Healthcare also announced that it will put 150 million Swiss francs on the table for its acquisition of Sydney-based healthcare provider Synlab Suisse. According to Australians, Synlab Suisse employs around 600 people in 19 laboratories and is expected to generate annual sales of around CHF 100 million in 2023.
The end of the corona pandemic also affected Synlab at the beginning of 2023. The fact that the German group sold significantly fewer Kovid tests than a year ago was evident in the first quarter figures: sales and earnings fell sharply.
