What is the friendliest Swiss city? Probably very few Swiss would bet on the Zwinglian banking city of Zurich.

But Zurich has earned a title: the friendliest city in Europe!

At least that’s the result of a study by luggage storage company Bounce that surveyed 15 of Europe’s friendliest cities. For this purpose, various studies such as “Euromonitor Top 100 Cities Index 2022” or “World Happiness Index” were analyzed, criteria such as crime rate, standard of living, “LGBTQ friendly” and more were taken into account. Zurich won with a great result. Who would have thought? The city in Limmat stands out for its architecture and as a starting point for tours in the nearby mountains. But it is also at its peak when it comes to residents’ satisfaction and safety. Also here lives an integrative community for LGBTQ visitors.

The Danish capital stands out for its mix of history, culture and Scandinavian magic. Again, the safety, the happiness of the residents, and the LGBTQ friendliness are outstanding. There are also numerous museums and fine restaurants.

Munich is Germany’s cultural capital and offers a wealth of tourist attractions. Cozy beer gardens and delicious, hearty meals, of course. Among the rated cities, Munich is considered the safest travel destination.

The Dutch metropolis is currently cleaning up its image and wants to focus tourism more on culture, art and architecture. “Tulips from Amsterdam” is as charming as its friendly and inclusive residents.

For years, Vienna has emerged as the winner in searches for “the most liveable city in the world” (the Mercer study), often ahead of Zurich. The old imperial city is definitely worth a visit with its wide streets and cute cafes.
