Despite equipment contract, he plays with the shoes in the competition: The shoes are not good enough for French Open winner Swiatek

Iga Swiatek won the French Open for the third time on Saturday.

1 in tennis, Polish Iga Swiatek (22) is one of the figures of Swiss running shoe manufacturer On. The company was only able to sign the tennis star as a supplier in March. He has now won the French Open final on Saturday at Ten clothes and thus his fourth Grand Slam title. It might be considered the best advertisement for the ten. However, Swiatek was not wearing On shoes, but a model from Japanese rival Asics.

This is surprising: After all, shoes are the most important product of the company, which was founded in 2010. However, the shoes are yet to meet Swiatek’s expectations, as CH Media claims to have learned from various sources. As soon as she signed the contract for the new hardware deal, she wrote on social media: “Shoes are very important to me as a tennis player. Since the process of developing a unique shoe takes time, I won’t be playing at Shoes until later.”

Swiatek’s shoe in development

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer (41) who joined Ten in 2019 is also involved in this development. Federer played several tournaments in the Ten tennis shoes in 2021. According to Swiatek, Federer is said to have personally tried to negotiate with him.

It seems that the tennis star will no longer be on On’s agenda as he continues to advertise for his former team, Asics, for free. Each new product developed by Ten is the result of close collaboration between the athletes and the design team, the company writes to CH Media. Shoes must be “tailored to their unique playing style and specific needs for different tournament surfaces”.

Ten has big growth plans

This seems to have already worked out for other tennis players: world-ranking #36 USA newcomer Ben Shelton (20) has been playing on Ten shoes since early April. On could not tell CH Media when tennis shoes would be tailored to Swiatek’s needs. One is looking forward to presenting “new shoes in the near future” from Swiatek.

Ten has big plans: the company increased its sales by 70 percent to over 1.2 billion francs last year and is looking to grow significantly again this year – over 1.7 billion francs. Iga Swiatek, the world’s best tennis player on On Shoes, would definitely be the best advertisement when going there. (smt)
