Suspicious collusion: Weko investigates two subsidiaries of Office World

Did the two big firms agree on the price? Competition agency Weko announced on Thursday that there was a suspicion.

Its focus is wholesale companies Oridis and Ecomedia, both owned by the Office World Group. They deal with printer accessories and office supplies.

According to Weko, manufacturers of printer accessories and office supplies sell their products, among other things, through wholesalers like the two companies mentioned. They then sell the products to online retailers where consumers or companies buy office supplies and printer supplies.

According to the announcement, there are indications that the two wholesalers are affecting the resale prices of various online retailers. “As a result, the companies involved may have entered into vertical price agreements that are illegal under antitrust law,” according to ComCo.

As part of the investigation, house searches were made at various points. It will now be checked whether the competition restrictions that are unacceptable under antitrust law actually exist. The presumption of innocence applies to companies.

According to its own knowledge, Office World Group is the leading provider of office supplies and office technology in Switzerland. The group has 19 own stores and several online stores.
