Do you prefer to pay with cash or card? At many events and festivals you no longer need to ask yourself this question – because more and more “cashless” or “cashless”. Therefore, they only accept digital payment services like Twint and credit or debit cards.

One example is Street Parade: Technoparade, which runs through the internationally renowned Zurich, is using cashless payments for the first time this year. “All major credit and debit cards are accepted, as well as most major payment apps,” Blick said.

Pay now with the festival wristband

Openair St. Gallen, cash has long been history. The organizers immediately came up with their own cashless payment system. Because at the popular music event in eastern Switzerland, you pay with the festival wristband. Money can be loaded into the entry wristband via an integrated chip. There are stations for this throughout the festival area. It works pretty much the same as Tomorrowland, one of the biggest techno festivals in the world.

Zurich Pride is also cashless, according to its website. However, there is an exception. Cash is accepted at food and beverage stands.

At these events and festivals, participants can leave their money at home:

But still there are festivals where operators accept coins and coins. These include Openair Gampel in Valais, Openair Greenfield in Interlaken BE and Openair Oberrieden in the canton of Zurich. But even in Openair Gampel the premium area is “cashless without exception”.

Openair Greenfield specifically states: “IMPORTANT: Cashless payment is not possible at all sales and catering stands!” Therefore, cash can be withdrawn from the Greenfield cash corner for a fee of CHF 5 per transaction.

Festival-goers often seem to arrive with no cash. After all, you don’t want coins jingling in your pocket while you’re dancing in the sun.
