Juso demands more therapy places and a 25-hour work week

At his delegate meeting on the topic of mental health, Juso called for a “massive” expansion of inpatient and outpatient therapy places. The costs of the treatments must also be fully reimbursed.

More and more young people are affected by mental disorders, Juso announced on Saturday after her delegate meeting in St. Gallen. However, treatment options are rare.

De Juso attributes this to bourgeois politics. According to the Young Socialists, the bourgeoisie had been saving the health system for years and so let countless people die. Suicide is the most common cause of death among 19 to 34 year olds.

To reduce the pressure to perform, the young party also wants to introduce the 25-hour working week. In the long run, a fundamental restructuring of the economic system is needed so that profit is no longer the priority, it was said. De Juso also called for the nationalization of the pharmaceutical industry. The delegates adopted an accompanying position paper at the meeting in St. Gallen.

The young party also summarized the slogans for the June 18 vote. The delegates said no to the implementation of the OECD tax reform, yes to the climate protection law and yes to the Covid law. They also supported the referendum against occupational pension reform. De Juso wanted a solidary and fair pension system through a national pension and a minimum pension of 5,000 francs per month instead of stealing a pension.

With a resolution, the Juso also spoke out against the expansion and new construction of infrastructure for fossil fuels. In Birr AG, where one has been built, and in Muttenz BL, where a liquefied gas terminal is planned, there is a risk of a climate-damaging mess for decades, de Juso said. (sda)
