If you love crocs, don’t see anything wrong with wearing sweatpants with a hoodie and jacket, promote baseball caps to all your friends as the best invention of mankind, then the famous style without style, normcore, brought you here. Despite the ironic name, it certainly does not lack style, and the stars – our trendy barometer – have confirmed this for many years.
It is unlikely that the German shoemaker Johann Birkenstock had any idea in the 18th century that his creation – a sandal with an ergonomic insole that supports the foot – would become a real hit of the 21st century. But history is a funny thing and now is the time to laugh at who is back in fashion. Yes, straight out of the 18th century!
But seriously, Birkenstocks are debated, loved, hated, but still worn for years. Their fate is similar to the biography of crocs: they are not included in the official charts of the hottest trends, but fashionistas around the world are still stocked with new clothes.
Gwyneth, for example, comfortable sandals with traditional Hollywood chic, i.e. red lipstick, an equally rich cardigan with a belt emphasizing the waist and neutral shorts. Take a closer look: the gold jewelry matches the tone of the gold buckles on the birkenstocks – the shades are “loopy”.
Julianne Moore follows the same idea – mixing classic silhouettes with normcore. In this case, an elongated jacket with relaxed flared chinos. And again, it’s all about the details: if there were other accessories on the jacket, the ensemble would become colorful and dubious. In order to be friends with such a normcore thing as birkenstocks, it is important to keep the outfit “clean”, that is, not to overload it with details.
This means that rivets on jeans, buttons that contrast with clothes, “intricate” prints, bags of unusual shape and other fashion pleasures do not automatically allow us to wear Birkenstocks. But if you’re going for the cleanest, most basic look in a neutral “expensive palette,” these mega-comfy mandalas will be the perfect match. What do you say – try it?
