Does this mean that the fashion historian believes that all girls must be thin? Nothing like that! The TV presenter is sure that each of us can be beautiful no matter what her figure is, and in order to be healthy and not fit into the 90-60-90 standard, diets and fitness are needed.
In one of the interviews, Vasiliev admitted that the highest ratings are in those episodes of “Fashionable Sentence” where the heroine is a chubby woman. “If we change the clothes to a slim girl, the audience immediately switches to another channel,” says Alexander.
Why is it hapenning? According to the fashion historian and designer, the fact is that most Russian women are overweight, and therefore they prefer to follow topics where they can learn useful information for themselves.
One of Alexander Vasiliev’s recommendations concerns how curvaceous women combine tops and blouses with pants and skirts in their outfits. According to Vasiliev, it is better to avoid a decision that is considered classic: “The famous costume designer and designer Edith Head once said that the most important thing in creating a female image is not to cut yourself in half. This refers to choosing a contrasting top and bottom. This will have a fatal effect on the perception of the character, it will be seen as two separate fragments, “says the presenter.
The appearance of two such blocks, Vasiliev believes, makes the figure more massive, and obese women who choose “light top, dark bottom” visually add kilograms and distort the proportions of their figure.
What to do if the classics are taboo for you? According to Vasiliev, one should strive for the outfit to have as few horizontals as possible and as many verticals as possible. In other words, layering (like a long open cardigan over a shirt and jeans), deep V-necks and vertical prints will save you. Another way to elongate your silhouette, Vasiliev explains, is to add plain pantsuits to your wardrobe. The main thing is not to forget that things should fit freely and not fit tightly to the body.
