Over 60 years ago, Sean Connery in James Bond pursues Dr. No’ first introduced a power-hungry supervillain, and since then the 007 series has grown into one of the greatest and best-loved franchises in movie history. This is also reflected in the latest part of the series, which was repeatedly postponed during the corona pandemic – and yet (or perhaps because of it) became one of the biggest cinema hits in recent years.
We are of course talking about “James Bond 007 – No time to die‘, which can now be streamed at no additional cost with an Amazon Prime Video subscription. More than six million movie tickets were sold in Germany alone, only “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” and “Frozen II” managed to do more in recent years. Worldwide, “No Time To Die” (the original title) grossed a very good $774 million.
In fact, the high level of interest in “No Time to Die” is no wonder, and not just because of the constant shifts. As is well known, the film is also the farewell appearance of Daniel Craig as James Bond, who was persuaded to act as 007 again six years after “Spectre”. It goes without saying that the fans were thrilled and didn’t want to miss it in the cinema. If you missed “No time to die” or want to see the 25th Bond film again, you can now on Prime Video.
And it’s definitely worth it, even though “James Bond 007 – No time to die” got “only” a big 3 out of 5 stars from the FILMSTARTS editors. Because although the film’s central love story is not entirely convincing, Craig’s farewell has some of the best action sequences in the entire series, damn fine visuals (see the cover photo above), and a really touching finale.
