13 movies and series to watch in June

May was a bit thin in terms of series and film. June trumps all the more for that. Netflix subscribers can look forward to new seasons of Black Mirror and The Witcher. Those who prefer to go to the cinema can choose between whip-wielding Indiana Jones, a Wes Anderson film or the new Pixar film.

Here are 13 highlights from movies and series in June.

Nothing is known about the content of the sixth season of “Black Mirror”. Netflix promises that the new episodes will be “unbeatable for their unpredictability and surprising twists”.

The cast includes Aaron Paul, Ben Barnes, Salma Hayek, Kate Mara and Michael Cera.

The new season does not yet have an exact start date, but has been announced for June.

The nature documentary series Our Planet is getting a second season. David Attenborough is back as the narrator, telling four episodes of great animal migrations and dramatic stories from the animal kingdom.

The second season will arrive on June 14.

Yennifer was entrusted with Ciri’s magical training after the events of season two. They head to Aretuza’s fortress, where they hope to learn more about Ciri’s previously unknown powers. But they must discover that they have landed in the middle of a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and betrayal.

This is the last season with Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. After that, Liam Hemsworth takes over the role.

The first part of the new season starts on June 29. A month later, on July 27, the second part will appear.

Three years after “Criminal Minds” was canceled after 15 seasons, the BAU team must search for a new serial killer in this revival. What’s new is that not every episode is dedicated to a new killer. It takes the Profiler an entire season to catch a killer as monstrous as never before. He is using the corona pandemic to build an entire network of killers.

Losing from the cast are Shemar Moore (playing Derek Morgan) and Matthew Gray Gubler (playing Spencer Reid).

Season 16 will be available from June 28.

Nick Fury learns of a planned invasion of Earth by shape-shifting Skrulls. To thwart the invasion, he gathers his close allies, including Maria Hill, Everett Ross, and also a Skrull.

The Marvel series will run from June 21.

Building on the New York Times Magazine project of the same name, this docuseries explores the impact of slavery on various aspects of modern life in the United States. The story is told by journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, who won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for her work on The 1619 Project.

The six-part documentary starts on June 21.

To maintain her status as America’s hottest pop star, Jocelyn teams up with nightclub owner Tedros. But he is also the leader of a cult and a toxic relationship develops between them, characterized by sex and violence.

The series begins on June 5.

In the second season of the “Sex and The City” revival, Carrie tries to get over the death of her husband, Mr. Big, to process. Suddenly another ex-boyfriend of hers appears: Aidan.

The second season will premiere on June 22.

As the new Deputy Director of the CIA, Jack Ryan must uncover internal corruption and uncover a series of suspicious covert operations. During the investigation, he must face the brutal reality that sometimes the greatest danger is closer than you think.

The final season begins on June 30. Two new episodes air every Friday.

In this thriller, Tom Holland plays a man arrested for his involvement in a 1979 shooting in New York. During the interrogation, his mysterious past comes to light and he swears his innocence.

The series comes out on June 9.

Director Wes Anderson’s latest film is called “Asteroid City” and is set in a fictional desert town where amateur astronomers discover an alien. The star-studded cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Margot Robbie, Jeff Goldblum and Jason Schwartzman.

The cinema release is on June 15.

Harrison Ford makes one final appearance as Indiana Jones in a fifth film in the franchise. The archaeologist is about to retire when one of his old rivals returns. Indy puts his hat back on and grabs his whip to make sure a powerful artifact doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

The film can be seen in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland from June 29.

The four elements coexist peacefully in a city, there is only one rule: do not mix with the other elements. But Ember, who belongs to the Fireclan, befriends the watery Wade.

The Pixar film will be in cinemas from June 22.
