Actors being digitally rejuvenated after their death or even brought back to life on screen – that has long been commonplace in the film industry. For example, the upcoming action adventure Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny will star Harrison Ford for half an hour as a younger Indiana Jones. And Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford’s Star Wars colleague, appeared as a young Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, in a mix of digital de-aging and deepfake. But Hamill doesn’t seem to think too much about this practice.
And so the actor probably gives many ‘Star Wars’ fans the shock of their lives by saying: that he probably wouldn’t return as a rejuvenated Luke, but that a young actor should take on the cult role.
Luke Skywalker series coming up?
Such a rearrangement could be necessary, for example, if young Luke has any more appearances in “The Mandalorian” universe, which we even think is very likely. At the latest in Dave Filoni’s big “Mandoverse” film, the young Jedi was able to participate again, after all, he was now part of two series from this universe. But in Mark Hamill’s conversation with another possibility came up: a full Luke Skywalker series on Disney+.
Speaking of Luke’s digital rejuvenation, Hamill said, “It’s unusual to see yourself like this. It doesn’t have to be cheap. People say, ‘Oh, now you can do a whole series as Luke, set after Return of the Jedi. And I say, “I don’t think so.” First and foremost, I think they don’t need to tell these stories at all. But if they do, they can get an actor whose age is appropriate.
Speaking of Harrison Ford, his Han Solo has already been recast. Alden Ehrenreich played young Han in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Luke as Force Spirit in “Star Wars 10”?
But what about the older Luke? Mark Hamill can still play him – but again there’s the small problem that Luke died in “Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi”. But for Force users, this is a rather negligible detail, after all, you can always reappear as a Force Ghost. And so is Luke, as rumor has it in the upcoming Star Wars movie about Rey (Daisy Ridley), who is founding a new Jedi order.
And on top of those rumours, Mark Hamill was from addressed. However, it is not surprising that he was unable to provide any information – when he “star wars 10“If he was there, he was not allowed to say this, and even if he was not there, he was not allowed to say this,” said the actor: “Everything is confidential.”
