Burnout, a silent epidemic

The World Health Organization declared burn as a public health problem.

According to the agency, more than a third productive population of the planet is affected by this serious condition, causing the death of 3 million people each year due to burn-related illnesses.

This problem brings with it physical and psychological symptoms, difficulties at work, problems in interpersonal relationships and loss of interest and motivation, among others.

Not only has science discovered ways in which companies can fight burnout Among its contributors, a conference organized by the Rest is a Human Right Foundation (VIAHR) offers clues on how to deal with this silent epidemic.

Between June 29 and July 2, 2023, the appointment will be held at Country house (La Romana) Dominican Republic.

under the motto “Rest!”this session will focus on three key topic areas: productivity, personal well-being, and conscious downtime.

Study

Setting clear boundaries between work and personal life means establishing policies and practices that foster an environment of respect.

Study of “Exhaustion and work obligation” published in 2019 revealed the importance of supporting autonomy in the work environment as an effective strategy to prevent employee burnout.

This work shows that when it is given employees the ability to make decisions about how to complete their tasks and manage their time, they experience greater job satisfaction and are less likely to suffer from emotional exhaustion.

Companies can work on strategies in which their employees feel included decision-making, which will lead to them feeling empowered and committed.

Being able to choose the way of performing tasks, set priorities and managing their time gives them a greater sense of control over their work environment. This, in turn, translates into greater job satisfaction and lower risk of burn.
