Extensions for ‘The Little Mermaid’ cost more than HRK 150,000

The Little Mermaid tape continues to be something to talk about, with comments generated over the weekend after we learned the cost of Halle Bailey’s hair extensions for the film.

One of the big unknowns for Disney was to know how they would succeed in recreating the famous scene of Ariel coming out of the sea for the first time with her legs waving her long hair while the sun outlines her figure, since Halle’s hair is completely different from the one shown in the cartoon.

In order for the actress’s hair to have the desired effect, Disney hired Camille Friend, who also worked on the film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” as the head of the hair department, and told “Variety” about the process and how much was spent on this production.

Camille Friend realized how important it was for Bailey to keep his natural hair to respect his roots, for which he found a way to revive the work, however, it was not cheap, because wearing a wig was practically impossible, writes the “Millennium” portal.

“If we took our hair and wrapped it around theirs braids, we didn’t have to cut it or paint it,” he explained as read in the aforementioned publication.

He added: “We could change its color without changing the internal structure of your hair. Her structure and her hair are her. It’s three shades of red.”

“I’m not guesswork, but we probably spent at least 150 thousand dollars because we had to modify and remove it,” he stressed.

“It couldn’t be used and we had to start over. It was a process,” he revealed.
