The second edition of the Festival of Menstruation

As part of the celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, on May 27, the second edition of the Festival of Menstruation will be held, organized by Palabras Poderosxs and other groups.

The main purpose of the festival has always been to make it an event held every year to commemorate the day in which they fight to make visible and eliminate the taboo around menstruation, commented Claudia Vidal, from Palabras Powerfulxs.

Since 2020, the collective has been conducting workshops and others activities to mark the date, virtually, but luckily now I can personally invite other groups that talk about menstrual cup, diet and feed, psychology and menstruation.

There are several for the second edition of the festival newsaccording to Vidal, several workshop leaders have joined the program such as Gizeh Ibarra (Cíclica) with the topic of the menstrual cup, nutritionist María Chuljak who will address “Food and its effects on the menstrual cycle” and Nailasob Alfaro who will talk about her experience with menstruation as an indigenous woman.

The festival will start at 9:30 a.m Cultural Center of Spain-Casa del Soldadoand will start with a workshop on “ABC of Menstruation” and until noon, workshops will be held for the audience over 13 years old, then the activities will be aimed at people over 18 years old, on the topic of relationships with the body, pleasure, history of the vulva and finally, at 16:15 there will be an open mic.

Vidal said that in the first edition of the festival there was a complete gallery art with menstrual bloodsomething that might sound controversialHowever, this year they will have a workshop where they will delve deeper into the topic of how this art was born.

Among the novelties that the festival will have is the installation of a pleasure workshop, the participation of female artists who worked on content related to menstruation, screening of short films i.a small market.
