Swiss love iced tea. We drink 25 liters per person per year. With Chicotée, we now have another brandy to quench our thirst. But how did it all happen when a fashion label brought iced tea to market? “When we have big shopping days, there are always very long lines at the checkout,” says Pascal Weber, Chicorée’s Co-CEO. “To make our customers’ waiting time a little more enjoyable, we’ve served them water before. Until we came up with the idea of ​​refreshing them with their own drinks.”

Get inspired by German rap giants

Shirin David, Capital Bra and Haftbefehl prove that iced tea is truly in vogue right now. Were the German rap giants perhaps an inspiration? “I would be lying if I said no,” Weber says. Music, fashion, and lifestyle are similar themes. «Wear a great outfit, listen to your favorite music and enjoy a quality drink. We want to convey this feeling with Chicotée.”

Chicotée is available in two flavors, Peach and Lemon. The packaging is fresh, summery and cool. “The sustainability aspect was particularly important to us when it came to packaging,” says Weber. “Chicotée will be available in 0.5 liter tetra packs, convenient and environmentally friendly.” The Swiss company has also found a manufacturer that does justice to food trends. «Our iced tea contains no artificial flavors, artificial colors or artificial sweeteners.» It is also vegan and gluten free.

Limited edition

Chicotée is initially available in a limited edition of 45,000 pieces. Initially, it will only be available at all chicory branches. “If the iced tea is well received, we’ll consider selling it elsewhere.”

Will there be refrigerators in all branches now? “No, organizing more than 170 refrigerators would have become a logistical problem,” the co-CEO laughs. “We designed the flavor so that iced tea can be enjoyed at room temperature.”
