Since 2014 there is the “Quizduell” offshoot “Quizduell-Olymp” on German television. So far, the popular guessing show has 8 seasons with 238 episodes, in which a prominent candidate duo competes against Olympus, consisting of three quiz experts. A game consists of a main round and a final. Important: Only in the final will it be determined who the winner is and who receives the sum of 10,000 euros. If Olympus wins, the money is released to app users who also play but cannot influence the game. If the celebrities win, the amount will be donated.
As befits quiz shows, there are always questions from pop culture to discover, which of course will make movie fans very happy. Of course, it’s very easy to get the right answer from the couch, so surely many of you would say in the first place that the superhero question, which includes not only former handball star Pascal Hens and Let’s Dance winner Ekaterina Leonova, but also Olympus failed, is achievable.
Moderator Jörg Pilawa’s question was: “What do the superheroes Batman and Hulk have in common?” The usual four possible answers were:
- belong to the Avengers
- bear the first name Bruce
- were created by Stan Lee
- have a butler named Alfred

Trickier than you think – especially on TV!
While Pascal Hens and Ekaterina Leonova have decided that Batman and Hulk are both created by Stan Lee, Olympus has decided that the two superheroes belong to the Avengers. Both answers are wrong, because both Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Hulk (Bruce Banner) share the middle name Bruce.
A simple question? Certainly for comics fans, but if you have never really come into contact with the subject, this question turns out to be quite difficult. In addition, one should not forget that the nervousness for the camera and studio audience certainly also plays a role. After all, it’s not just a question of little money.
Just to clarify: The fact that Batman and Hulk cannot belong to the Avengers is because Batman is from the DC Universe, i.e. part of the comic world of Superman, Wonder Woman and Co. Hulk, the green rager, on the other hand, is an Avenger, so he’s from Marvel and fights for justice alongside Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Black Widow and Co.
Stan Lee has worked almost exclusively for Marvel throughout his long career, creating and influencing countless famous characters, so Batman isn’t one of them. And only Bruce Wayne aka Batman has a butler named Alfred.
