The three ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ films are among the most successful productions Netflix has put together and the idea of a spin-off series was quickly born. Now XO, Kitty, which pretty much follows To All The Boys, is on Netflix and also makes a lot of viewers happy. This naturally begs the question: will there be a second season of XO, Kitty? But the answer is not so simple…
Season 2 of the Netflix series “XO, Kitty” is anything but safe
Anyone who assumes that the Netflix series XO, Kitty could be pursued just as quickly as the 2018 film To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before could be wrong. Because the “To All The Boys” movies already had author Jenny Han’s successful novels and all three were completed and published before 2018. So the stories for the trilogy didn’t need to be made up first, those were already out in the world. Only the adaptations had to be written and filmed.
“XO, Kitty” isn’t based on a novel, it’s very much a spin-off series from the movie trilogy. Of course, that doesn’t mean the series can’t continue! After all, “XO, Kitty” is also the author of Jenny Han. In addition to providing the scripts for the episodes of the series, she also serves as the showrunner and producer of the Netflix series. Expanding Kitty’s story shouldn’t be a problem for Han.
Whether there will be a second season of “XO, Kitty” will mainly depend on how many people want to see the series and how much commercial potential Netflix sees in a sequel to the story. If the ratings are correct, a second season is not unlikely. And the interest in the spin-off series certainly seems to be high…
This could continue with “XO, Kitty” in a second season
In XO, Kitty, Kitty Song Covey (played by Anna Cathcart) travels to Korea to attend an elite boarding school and finally takes her long-distance relationship with Dae (Choi Min-young) to the next level. Once there, however, she realizes that her boyfriend was anything but faithful and has to think about how to move forward in love.
But Kitty didn’t come to Korea just to be close to Dae. She also wants to explore her roots and the story of her late mother, who once attended the same boarding school. Looking for herself, Kitty starts a whole new life in Korea.
Of course, we don’t want to reveal how the series ends at this point. One thing’s for sure though, “XO, Kitty” is anything but complete, and in the last of the ten episodes, Kitty is actually at the beginning of her own story.. This results in numerous storylines that are relatively open-ended and could certainly provide enough material for another season of the series…
