Now that that’s settled, here are 9 fun facts about “Mean Girls” you (probably) didn’t know.

Lindsay Lohan originally auditioned for the role of Regina George. She would have gotten those too if the producers hadn’t struggled to cast a matching cady. But that wasn’t the only reason: the comedy “Freaky Friday”, also starring Lohan, came out during the casting. The studio was convinced that Lohan’s audience and fans would not accept her as a villain after this film.

Amanda Seyfried also auditioned for the role of Regina. However, the producers saw her more in the role of the dumb Karen.

Rosalind Wiseman’s Queen Bees and Wannabes, a parent self-help book about teenage cliques, inspired actress Tina Fey to write Mean Girls. It’s about the behavior of young girls. The book aims to show parents how to help their daughter “survive cliques, gossip, friends and the new reality of the girl world”.

Janis Ian (played by Lizzy Caplan) is Cady’s rebellious girlfriend. Her character is named after a well-known musician. Ian won a Grammy for the song “At Seventeen”, which is about “beauty queens” and “ugly ducklings” (similar to “Mean Girls”). The song also appears in the movie.

Originally, actor Daniel Franzese was frustrated with his role as Damian. But long after the movie came out, in 2014, he wrote a coming-out letter to his character in “IndieWire”: “Now in 2014 – ten years later – I learned to be proud of myself again because of you. It’s okay if no one I want to sit down with the art freaks. Being a queer artist is one of the things I love most about myself. I’ve always been different, and that’s great.”

Franzese participates in the current second season of “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race”. His drag persona is called Donna Bellisima.

“Are you going Glenn Coco!” – another iconic quote from «Mean Girls». However, it almost never happened because the actor who plays Glen Coco for a few seconds should not have been on set at all.

After auditioning for the film and not getting the part, 19-year-old David Reale decided to stick around the set with the cast in the background to get a free meal.

The director recognized him from the audition and decided to use him in the candy scene.

Reale said he was never formally engaged and therefore never received any money — but his free lunch was pretty awesome.

Gretchen actress Lacey Chabert hears the word “get” hundreds of times a day. In a 2014 interview, she said, “People tweet me hundreds, if not thousands, of times a day [mit] Lines from the movie: ‹It’s so fetch!›».

“Fetch” even followed Chabert offline, to the most unlikely places: “I went to the pharmacy because I was sick and wanted to get some medicine. The pharmacist looked at me and said, ‘You don’t look like you’re feeling very appetizing today. .'”

Mary Jane Fort, the film’s costume designer, said in an interview with Nylon that she searched endless teen magazines and yearbooks to find the right outfits. In the entire film, Cady had the most costume changes, Fort estimates the number at 59. But the other actresses also had to go through more than 30 outfit changes each.

The actresses were also allowed to keep some clothes after the shoot.

Bennett told The Huffpost in 2015 that Tina Fey “definitely” hired him because he resembles her longtime “SNL” co-star Jimmy Fallon.

“She said that’s 100 percent true,” Bennett said, adding that he’d never met Fallon but would like to appear on The Tonight Show as Fallon’s doppelgänger.

Hard to imagine, but “Mean Girls” and “The Notebook” both came out in 2004. Rachel McAdams was 26 at the time. By the way, she wore a wig in “Mean Girls”.
