“My mother is jealous of me and acts strange…”

I know it sounds a little weird to write this, but I really think my mom is jealous of me and doesn’t like me in a weird way. I’m 29 now and only now do I really realize it. My mom got me early when she was 25, so she’s not that old and looks good for her age. She dresses a little too “young” for my taste, but as long as she feels good… I went to dinner with her on Sunday and had my new boyfriend with me for the first time. And the whole evening was quite uncomfortable for him.

And when he told everything he thought was funny, the scales fell from my eyes… No matter what I said or said, my mother had a better story in store or was able to downplay my successes.

She also dropped the phrase “when I was Isabel’s age, I looked even better!” …

I’m used to it and just dismiss such things as jokes. And I don’t think about it much anymore. But now afterwards…

My mom seems to have really serious issues with aging and somehow seems to take it out on me. This behavior has only been the case for a few years now. Or so bad. I asked her about it, she just “laughed off the subject” and said something like “What should I be jealous of?” …

Unfortunately I can’t talk to my father about it because my mother made sure I had no contact with him very early (different story) …

I don’t know exactly what to do. Searching for the conversation didn’t yield much, to be honest it’s gotten a little weirder since then…
