2.- Scorsese – One of the great masters of cinema and a peer of Ford, Martin Scorsese continues to show exceptional activity and arrives at Cannes with “Killers of the Flower Moon”, with two of his favorite actors, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio in a film that lasts 3 and half an hour.

In competition

Between 21 movies who will compete for the prestigious golden palm who won last year’s “Triangle of Sorrow”, by Swede Ruben Östlund, there are many well-known and regular names at a festival like Cannes, which looks both to the future and to the past of cinematography.

1.- Wes Anderso and his troupe – the American lands in Cannes surrounded by stars, which is common in his choral histories. For “Asteroid City” he had Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Maya Hawke or Margot Robbie, to name just a few. And it is to be expected that in this edition he will not be afraid as happened two years ago when he refused to hold a press conference to present the “French Chronicle”.

2.- “Firebrand” – Jude Law as Henry VIII and Alicia Vikander as Catherine Parr, the last of the six wives of the English monarch. They are the protagonists of one of the most anticipated titles of the competition, “Firebrand”, by Brazilian Karim Ainouz.

3.- Ken Loach, Moretti, Wenders and Kore-Eda – The quartet of veterans is cinema in its purest form. Four of them have already won the Palme d’Or (Loach twice) and are fighting for it again with “The Old Oak”, “Il sol dell’avvenire”, “Perfect Days” and “Monster”, respectively.

4.- “Mat December” – the film by Todd Haynes promises a high-profile duel between the main characters: Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman. The latter is an actress who will meet the real woman she has to play in her new film. Two great actresses and a director who is an expert at bringing out the best in the women he directs.

5.- Alice Rohrwacher – Alice Rohrwacher is one of the most original European filmmakers in recent years. After wowing in 2018 with “The Lucky Lazzaro,” the Italian returns to Cannes with “La chimera,” a film about the smuggling of precious objects starring Josh O’Connor and Isabella Rossellini.

Cannes Film Festival outside the cinema

But Cannes Film Festival it’s not just seeing movies in the rooms. Many times the show is outside of them, mostly in red carpets which become authentic parades fashion.

Although the absence Peter Pascalone of the actors of the moment for his roles in the series “The Mandalorians” and “The Last of Us”fans will have plenty of familiar faces to take photos with and ask for autographs.

Harrison Ford, Scarlett JohanssonAntonio Banderas Margot RobbieNatalie Portman, Johnny Depp, Tom HanksThe Weeknd, Maya Hawke, Ethan Hawke, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert de Niro, Cate Blanchett, Mia Waisikowska, Alicia Vikander, Jude Law… the list is endless.

There will be lots of other parties glamour during almost two festival weeks, but without a doubt the biggest show and free, it will be the Croisette, more precisely in the kilometer that separates the luxurious Hotel Martínez and the Palace of Festivals.
