After Mel Gibson (“Blood Father”) made a comeback years ago, the Oscar winner is now increasingly seen in front of the camera (particularly in direct-to-DVD productions, in which Gibson mainly plays supporting roles). In addition, the creator of “Braveheart” has two major directorial projects in the pipeline for years that fans are quite excited about: “The Passion of the Christ 2” and “Lethal Weapon 5”. The projects are not off the table, but Gibson is now providing another film.
Mel Gibson has now been confirmed to direct the thriller.”Flight risk” and thus again responsible for the staging of a movie after 2016’s “Hacksaw Ridge”. The news comes as quite a surprise, as it seemed that Gibson had finally decided (or had the chance) to release the sequel to the highly successful and equally controversial “The Passion of the Christ.”
This is “flight risk”
“Flight Risk” is all about a pilot who is tasked with transporting a very dangerous criminal to trial. It is not yet clear whether Mel Gibson will only take a seat in the director’s chair or also appear on the big screen. But you know who will take on the lead role in “Flight Risk”: Superstar Mark Wahlberg (“Boston”, “Transformers: Age of Extinction”).
It won’t be the first time Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg have done things together. The two stars were seen together in front of the camera in the biographical drama Father Stu, which received little critical acclaim, to say the least. It remains to be seen whether Gibson will again split people’s heads with “Flight Risk”, as he has managed to do with almost all his directorial work. There’s definitely potential here for a gripping viewing experience, though.
